We were up at 7 am and went to the buffet breakfast. We met Firas at 9 am and he arrived in his
white robe and hatta, so we took pictures of our new friend. It was about a 45 minute ride to the Amman airport. Firas continued his discussion with us about
Islam during the drive.
Please meet our friend, Firas B’oul, from Amman, Jordan. He was our very excellent guide in Jordan and helped us have such a wonderful experience. In addition to explaining the history, culture, food, and customs, Firas talked to us about Islam. There are so many common elements between Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Unfortunately, each of the major religions have extremists, and they shed a very bad light on all of the others who aren’t extremists. Thank you Firas, for being an excellent tour guide, driver, historian, and friend. We hope our paths will cross again in the future. All our best to you.

We got to the Queen Alia Airport in Amman in plenty of time,
and checked in at the executive check in.
We went to the lounge, had coffee, and then went to the gate.
There weren’t many people in first class with us so there
was plenty of room. We had a good meal,
nap, and caught up on reading.
It was a 5 hour flight from Amman to Paris. On arrival we went through immigration, got
our bags and through customs. To
Enterprise/Citer to pick up our rental car.
And then we headed almost due west to Bayeux on the A13. We’ll spend 3 nights at the B&B there.
Our arrival and departure from Paris was exceptional. We landed at 10 minutes to 4. Within 50 minutes, we had cleared
immigration, retrieved our luggage, gone through customs, gotten our rental car
and were on our way. Enterprise even had
a relatively new Mercedes for us with a GPS at no extra charge. Traffic getting around Paris wasn’t too bad
and in no time we were out in the countryside heading west. The GPS (Sophie) was great at giving
directions too.
We arrived in Bayeux at 7:45 pm, well ahead of
schedule. Our hosts at Manoir Sainte
Victoire welcomed and showed us to our room on the second floor of a 15th
century tower that they had renovated. I
parked the car up the block around a large park. Our hostess had made a reservation for us at
a local restaurant just across from the Bayeux Cathedral – Le Assiette
Restaurant. They had our table waiting
when we walked in. They gave us a
complementary aperitif of calvados (apple wine) and we had a good 3 course
dinner. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. We headed back to the Manoir about 11 pm and
went to bed. It was a tiring travel day
and we look forward to our explorations in and around Bayeux tomorrow.
